JAPAN - SEVERE EARTHQUAKE AFTERSHOCK - CONTINUED CRISES - WOMEN

SENDAI, Japan — A strong aftershock ripped through northeastern Japan, killing at least two people, injuring more than 100 and piling misery on a region still buried under the rubble of last month's devastating tsunami.
The aftershock late Thursday was the strongest tremor since the March 11 monster quake and did some damage, but it did not generate a tsunami.

What was to have been the 4th Regional Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Intersex Association (ILGA) conference scheduled to run from 26-29 March, 2010 in Surabaya, the East Java capital in Indonesia, ended before it could start, due to a combination of inaccurate media reports and participants safety being threatened by Islamic fundamentatists.
