In a cozy patio one afternoon with fellow feminists, author and activist Anissa Helie bravely engaged the politically charged terrain of LGBTQI relationships and struggles with state actors, fundamentalist forces, and even themselves and other social movements.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) groups around the world marked International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) last 17 May 2008. On this day, LGBT groups called for concerted action towards the shaping of societies that respect LGBT persons, particularly through changes in laws. As reported by TARSHI (Talking about Reproductive and Sexual Health Issues),a group based in Delhi, India, 86 member states of the United Nations still criminalise consensual same-sex sexual acts among adults.
