April 28, 2011

Dear friends:

Greetings from Isis International!

As Chair of the Board of Trustees for Isis International, I would like to announce that Cai Yiping will end her term as Executive Director of Isis officially at the end April 2011 but will continue to represent Isis with Board support, at key meetings and events until the end of May 2011.

After two and a half years as Director, Yiping has chosen to return back to China. It is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to her. In the past couple of years she has contributed greatly to Isis. She was able to launch the Activist School, a dream the organization has had for a few years. Under her leadership she was able to consolidate projects and activities allowing Isis to blossom in new directions.

Being a Chinese feminist, she was able to link Isis into the social movements within China and to bring Chinese feminist and activist to Isis projects. We were enhanced by this process as we were able to learn about China linking situations and women from across the region. As a journalist, she was able to stimulate all of us to broaden our reach and to embrace some of our core mandates within the work of women and media.

Isis too has now become part of Yiping. While she may no longer be based in Manila or as its Director, Yiping will continue to be involved in different projects on a volunteer basis and as a consultant.

In the interim, I as Chair of the Board will serve as Managing Trustee, a job that I know will be supported by the staff, the Board, the GM, Isis friends and of course Yiping.

Please join us in wishing Cai Yiping a successful next step in her professional journey and a big thank you for her leadership and commitment to Isis.

Sincerely,

Luz Maria Martinez
Chair
Board of Trustees
