Media practitioners covering serious social, political, or cultural issues in developing countries in innovative and creative ways are invited to apply for the One World Media Awards 2007. Find out how to send entries.

One World Media Awards 2007 recognises programmes or articles which cover any of the following issues in a compelling and imaginative way:

- Makes an impact on public opinion or government policy
- Draws attention to possible solutions
- Appeals to a wide spectrum of audience through its innovation and flair
- Includes the voices and views of people in the developing world
- Demonstrates investigative, journalistic or production skills of the highest level
- Communicates how the actions of the world’s rich impacts upon the lives of the world’s poor

Coverage should be concerned with social, political, or cultural aspects of the developing world—Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East or the former Soviet States. Contributions from small or lesser known independent media companies, from individuals, and from those who may not have entered previously are welcome.

Entries must have been broadcasted on terrestrial, cable, or satellite TV or published in a recognised publication for the first time in the UK between March 18, 2006 and March 17, 2007 and may not have been entered for a previous One World Media Award.

There are several award categories:

1. Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award—for the TV or radio journalist who has made the most outstanding contribution to reportage or analysis in this field during the year
2. Radio Documentary Award—for an outstanding individual programme or single programme from a series
3. TV Documentary Award—for an outstanding individual programme or single programme from a series
4. Press Award—for an outstanding article or series of articles in the print media
5. New Media Award—for outstanding new media output (e.g., websites, podcasts, blogs, vlogs, viral videos, maps, animations, citizen journalism, webcasts, virtual exhibitions, and online photo galleries)
6. Local Media Award—for content about the wider world which may also incorporate a local perspective
7. Popular Features Award—for broadcast and print media that takes issues of global significance to a mass audience away from the traditional news and documentary current affairs format
8. MDGs Award—for outstanding broadcast, print or new media coverage, within and outside the UK, which addresses directly the progress or challenges in meeting the 2015 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
9. Children's Rights Award—for broadcast and print coverage that advances the rights of children worldwide, acknowledging the perspectives of young people themselves
10. International Premiere Award—recognises the highest standard of international documentary on human rights and development
11. Special Award—recognises an outstanding community media project or organisation working on the ground in the developing world.
