To keep citizens informed on Arab legislations and regulations is the aim of the new online legislative database housed at the Arab Center for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity (ACRLI) website. Find out how this can serve as a tool in protecting citizens' rights in the Middle East.

A new online legislative research database, a first of its kind, was launched in mid-February this year to provide citizens with information and access to Arab legislations and regulations.

This new database aims to improve human rights protection in the Middle East by empowering citizens with knowledge about their rights, so that they can demand their governments to respect existing laws. This is also hoped to equip civil society organisations with information on legislation that they need in order to advance their advocacies.

The database, found on the Arab Center for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity (ACRLI) website, <http://www.arabruleoflaw.org/>, can be searched by keyword, country and legislation type.

ACRLI is an Arab regional nongovernment, and non-profit organisation, whose aim is to strengthen the Rule of Law, fight societal and governmental corruption, and build the foundations of Law, and efficient and independent justice systems within the Arab nations.
