For years, women journalists have gone about their jobs despite difficult circumstances, such as government oppression, political pressure, and physical danger.

To honour them, The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is seeking nominations for its 2006 “Courage in Journalism Award” and “Lifetime Achievement Award,” the only awards programme exclusively for international women journalists.

Candidates for the “Courage in Journalism Award” can be full-time, part-time or freelance women reporters, writers, editors, photographers, or producers working in any country.

The “Lifetime Achievement Award” recognises a woman journalist who has a pioneering spirit and whose determination has paved the way for future generations of women in the media. Candidates for the “Lifetime Achievement Award” can be either working or retired journalists.

All nominations must be in English and all nomination forms must be completed by a professional associate.

IWMF will be accepting nominations between January 11, 2006 and March 15, 2006.
