Global Journalism Silverstone Fellowship

POLIS, the forum for debate and research into international journalism and society in the Media and Communications Department, London School of Economics and Political Science, is inviting foreign journalists based in London to apply for the Global Journalism Silverstone Fellowship.

The fellowship, worth £5,000, will run from September 2007 to September 2008. Accepted Fellow is expected to conduct research on an aspect of international journalism, to write and present a report, and to contribute to occasional teaching responsibilities.

Euro-Med Journalist Prize for Cultural Diversity

Young, working journalists between the age of 25 and 35 are invited to apply for the “Euro-Med Journalist Prize for Cultural Diversity,” which rewards exceptional journalistic productions, contributing to a better understanding of the diversity of cultures in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

This international competition, organised by the Foundation and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), is aimed at encouraging journalism that effectively contributes to the ongoing dialogue between cultures and peoples by spreading awareness of diversity.

Winning articles will be selected on the basis of the professional quality and journalistic standard applied in research and writing, the originality of the contribution and the capacity of the writer to take on others’ perspectives and to inspire readers. Eligible articles should contribute to cultural dialogue and must have been published in one of the 35 Euro-Mediterranean countries.

Deadline for submitting articles is on June 20, 2007.
