The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is giving out seedgrants for the following initiatives:

(1) World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2007

Groups are invited to apply for the WABA WBW 2007 seedgrants. Five to ten seedgrants are to be given out, each amounting from $500 to $1,000. It is intended to fund WBW activities, encourage language translations and adaptation of WBW materials to suit local needs, and widen the celebrations of WBW globally.

(2) Community Support for Breastfeeding

WABA’s Community Support for Breastfeeding seedgrant aims to establish or strengthen community support worldwide for breastfeeding protection, promotion, and support. It focuses on educating and sensitising communities towards the importance of breastfeeding, encouraging communities to be more supportive of breastfeeding families, and directly involve and support breastfeeding mothers. Each seedgrant is worth $500 to $2,000. It is intended to fund activities that serve as a catalyst for further action.

Completed application forms for the two seedgrants must reach WABA on or before May 31, 2007.
